Giuseppe Carbone - Biography

Giuseppe Carbone was born in Bitonto, Bari - Italy on August 9, 1971. He is currently Full Professor of Applied Mechanics - Politecnico di Bari - Italy. He received the Mechanical Engineering Degree on Fenruary 1998 and in February 2002 the Ph. D. degree at Politecnico di Bari Italy. He is Rector’s Delegate for the Scientific Research and Technology Transfer. Since  In 2010 he has founded the Tribology Lab (http://tribolab.poliba.it) of which he is the Scientific Director. He is permanent Academic Visitor at Imperial College London, from 2003 to 2009 he has been Visiting Scientist and Research Fellow at Juelich Research Center – Juelich (D) and at Eindhoven University of Technology – Eindhoven (NL).  His scientific interests focus mainly on tribology, biomimetics, superhydrophobicity, mechanical transmissions. Since 2011 he is member of the workgroup on the Nanotechnology of the Inter-Polytechnic School of Doctorate. In 2009 he has been component of the Committee of the Ph.D. course in Manufacturing Systems and Robotics - Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Lausanne, Switzerland. . He is members of the editorial board of Tribology International – Elsevier, of ISRN Tribology, of Biomimetics MDPI (ISSN 2313-7673). He is also Guest Editor of Biomimetics MDPI.  He acts as referee of more than 50 International Journals. He is also regularly invited as key-note speaker, and acts as associate editor or as member of the scientific board of important international conferences. He is also regularly invited to publish his research on important international journals and books. He has authored 200 publication of which about 100 in ISI or SCOPUS archive journals.
